I believe that giving yourself time to focus on your breath, movement, body and mind can truly help you to manage our often busy and hectic lifestyles.
I found my passion for yoga over 20 years ago when I went to my first yoga class. I immediately felt this practice was something my body and mind responded to in a really powerful and positive way. It has continued to be a deeply fulfilling and steadying force throughout my life. From my initial beginners course, I continued going to classes and retreats and found my way to a consistent practice.
I gradually felt I wanted to deepen my understanding of yoga. At the time, I was in a nice but ultimately unrewarding office job, so decided to take the leap and retrain as a Yoga teacher. I wanted to do something I believed in, something useful and rewarding to both myself and those around me. Retraining would enable me to share the magic I have found in this practice with my community.
I began a teacher training in 2009. During the course I was blessed with my first child and then not too long after, my second arrived, so thereon passed a few years of focusing on their needs.
Being in the whirlwind of those baby years, any thoughts of teaching or training where put firmly on hold! Finding my way back to a little of myself again in 2016, I was lucky enough to be a student on the first 200hr teacher training with Naomi Annand at my favourite community spirited studio, Yoga on the Lane, in east London, very close to where I live.
The timing was ideal, I was ready to find something away from family life and this was the perfect training for me. I completed my training in April 2017 amongst 18 other amazing women.
Although of course, my first passion and focus is to my children, my love for teaching has been an amazing revelation. I simply love it. Watching my students move, breathe and connect with their bodies in a mindful way brings me so much joy.
I enjoy teaching a dynamic breath and alignment focused flow which aims to give the mind and body space and time to be nourished. I have continued my teacher training journey with Jason Crandall with whom I’m currently doing my 300hr and Bo Forbes who I’m doing an online 100hr training with. Both have been the perfect complement to my 200hr and have really served to give depth to my learning and teaching.
Living in London can feel hectic but when I’m not teaching, I can usually be found enjoying some of the wondrous outdoor spots we are lucky enough to have on our doorstep with my gorgeous family and our beautiful dog. Generally enjoying the outdoors and traveling abroad to visit family and friends when we can.
